Before you retrieve any files please read the file pub/Warnings. These programs are NOT necessarily the latest versions. They are however working versions, and will compile on AIX 3.2, 4.1.5, 4.2.1 and 4.3.2. Some packages (only in v3) make the assumption that you have installed the bsdcc paragraph in /etc/xlc.cfg (see /usr/lpp/bos/bsdport for details). The CONTENTS* files give the lists of pds available for each version. NOTE: * Be careful how you copy the files. ALL COMPRESSED FILES must by copied in binary mode. If you ftp a file whose name ends in .Z in ascii mode you will NOT be able to do anything with it! * The general structure of the subdirectories will look like below, more or less: pub//RISC/3.2/src/..tar.Z pub//RISC/3.2/exec/..tar.Z pub//RISC/4.1/src/..tar.Z pub//RISC/4.1/exec/..tar.Z pub//RISC/4.2/src/..tar.Z pub//RISC/4.2/exec/..tar.Z pub//RISC/4.3/src/..tar.Z pub//RISC/4.3/src/..tar.Z pub//RISC/5.1/exec/..tar.Z pub//RISC/5.1/exec/..tar.Z * Please note that there is a conflict of names between the src tar archive and the executable tar archive. * Not all products have exec subdirectories. * The executables have been archived using a relative path. This way you can extract them to a 'safe' place before you use them, or extract them to the 'real' location. ALL executables are in ./usr/local... . The executable archives also include the man pages. But ALWAYS check the paths in the archive (...|tar tvf - ) BEFORE you extract it. * The Source archives are all 'clean' ("make clean" and "make distclean" have been run). * To compile and install the software, follow the instructions in README.RS6K. You may also wish to read the README, INSTALL and related info files that come with the package. * Please note that some of these packages ask you to make depend, before you do please extract src/mkdep.shar and install mkdep somewhere along your path. Please refer to "README_aixpdslib_update" for the current news about aixpdslib. Thanks.
